The Middle East

Atlantis The Royal, Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Overlooking the beach on the Palm Jumeirah, Atlantis The Royal immerses guests in luxury with its rooftop infinity pool, swanky beach clubs and Michelin-star dining. The 43-storey mega-resort opened in early 2023 with an elegant spa and 17 restaurants and bars.

“Atlantis The Royal’s unique architecture makes it stand out from the crowd,” says Ben. “Set in a fabulous location and often visited by celebrities, it’s an exceptional property inside and out. Villas and penthouses make it a brilliant option for multi-generational family breaks.”

Asia and Indian Ocean

Waldorf Astoria Platte Island, Seychelles

Located on a private island hemmed by undisturbed live coral, this Robinson Crusoe-esque retreat is a tranquil paradise where you can truly relax. Chill out in your private pool villa, book a massage in the spa or try activities ranging from Creole cooking to kite-surfing.

Ben notes the resort’s eco-friendly credentials: “It was sensitively built to protect the natural surroundings and uses solar power and recycled water. The unspoiled tropical island is a nesting site for Hawksbill turtles, making an idyllic backdrop for Waldorf’s signature quality.”

The Peninsula Hong Kong, China

The grande dame of the Far East has been an icon of glamour since opening its doors in 1928 – guests arriving by air can touch down on the rooftop helipad and the historic hotel has a fleet of Rolls-Royce Phantoms to drive you around town.

“Combining a palatial exterior with ultra-modern amenities right in the heart of Kowloon, The Peninsula is considered one of the world’s finest hotels,” says Ben. “For the ultimate convenience, you can check in or out at any time of day.”

Royal Mansour, Marrakech, Morocco

Exceptional hospitality awaits at the Royal Mansour. Owned by the King of Morocco, it took 1,200 master craftsmen over three years to build the opulent complex with its lavish interiors, winding alleys and walled gardens. There are no run-of-the-mill rooms here; instead, you’ll stay in one of 53 three-storey riads, each with its own private courtyard and plunge pool.

“This hotel encapsulates the essence of Marrakech in five-star luxury,” comments Ben. “No two riads are the same, offering a stylish home-away-from-home with traditional decor.”

“In a city full of extravagant hotels, The Emory is refreshingly discreet; it’s set right in the heart of Knightsbridge, yet you wouldn’t know it’s there,” Ben notes. “Try the restaurant’s much-lauded version of arroz con pollo for a real culinary treat.”
